Brittany Cockrell, Painting emotions: Using primary colors!

This project provided Head Start (EPIC) students with a variety of paints, canvases, and brushes to allow students to create new ideas through artistic creations. The students ages three through five learned facial expressions and emotion recognition through painting with primary colors. 
Students learned and expressed ideas on how to implement these creations with their families at home. They also collaborated ideas on how to create educational paintings to raise money for the community.
The program is excited to use painting ideas (click on photos to enlarge) to further community projects, broaden social skills, and create family support through creative connections.
The students show their creative ideas such as happiness, being angry, crying, showing confusion, and being stubborn. Some of the students also transformed the paintings into other creations such as Mickey Mouse, mud puddles, and snowmen. The vocabulary the students practiced through these techniques was Art, canvas, paint brushes, and patience. 
The students really enjoyed being creative and discovered they can turn any shape into something unique!
