2016 Mini-Grant Recipient
Chromebooks allow flexible individual internet research while the computer lab is used by others. Students can build their knowledge through searches of different aspects of a topic such as a Social Studies Fair. Other project topics include: internet research about everyday applications of science and technology; determine the meaning of words; draw on information from multiple print or digital sources to locate quickly an answer to a question. The chromebooks provide individual internet searches while the teacher is helping other students with more difficult material. Students can progress at their own rate using apps (e.g., Sumdog for math and Moby Max for reading, vocabulary, and math). New words added to the students’ vocabulary are validation, search engines, abstract, and bibliography.
